2:25AM - Stuff...

This week at EA we got to see a screening of AWN's 7th annual animation show of shows.
There were nine short films.
My favorites were:

-"Overtime" By Oury Atlan. A funny and genuinely touching little story about how a group of Muppet-like puppets handle the death of their creator.

-"The Fan and the Flower" By Bill Plympton. This was a stylistically atypical Plympton short, but still really good.

-Pixar's "One Man Band" By Andrew Jimenez and Mark Andrews. This was an incredible little piece about two musicians competing for a little girl's only penny. The story was told perfectly, without any dialog.

Seeing the skill with which these animators told their stories got me rethinking a short story I'm trying to put together for Dan Vado's "Haunted Mansion" comic.
I think I'm going to scrap my first draft and take another shot...from a different angle. I'll let you know if I get a decent finished product.

In closing, I have to put an evil curse on one of my livejournal friends. "Redcrowstudio" got me hooked on something called "Library Thing.com"
Introducing me to something like this is like setting an alcoholic adrift on a sea of vodka, in a leaky boat.

I've still got a couple hundred books to list, but at least I'm well past the half way point.
